Pretty cool system over at AppMakR, which is a DIY Mobile App builder. AppMakr.com is finally a system that allows everybody to create there own site/app. That’s exactly something we also wanted to do back in the day, but unfortunately it did not work out due to various reasons.
With AppMakR any user can just put a few different RSS and data sources into position. The interface is dead simple and extremely easy to use. Especially smaller companies should like this a lot.
Funny to see that even mattress companies such as Mattress Depot USA has entered the mobile app market. Their new app reports on nearby deals and stores. The service allows mobile consumers to access a huge variety of highly localized, regularly updated information.
Users can search for product launches, sales, discounts, coupons, offers, and promotions for every business and service in the area.
Well…now I can buy my Tempur-Pedic or Select comfort bed whenever I get a coupon on my phone while walking in the city.
Apologies again for our hosting issues. We still have performance issues with Dreamhost and looking into other webhosting companies. Any recommendations about a cheap and reliable hosting company is always welcome.
Massively multiplayer online role-playing games, or so called MMORPG have won more and more traction over teh past years. Millions of people play them online and the revenues in this business has groown in a billion dollar industry. World of Warcraft ist certainly the most popular one and WOW gold is something people buy and sell like a realy currency. Lately the trend MMORG mobile games has been grown and it’ll be interesting where this is heading to in 2010. With the new Google phone coming out, the mobile phones will get more and more powerful and the run for MMORG mobile games should grow fast.
Just wanted to wish everybody happy holidays and quickly recap the year …
First 3 months of 2009 our QR Code solution made a big attempt in the industry, but other solutions were more aggressively pushing for it and we decide not to go that route anymore. It’s too much of a niche and others really did a great job.
Unfortunately and that’s the nature of our business….we missed the boat, but we’ll move forward and our blog shows that we still watch the industry closely. Disrupting technologies like the Google phone or latest OLED technology will come up and open new opportunites.
I’d also like to apologise for the hosting issues. We are still running everything on Dreamhost, but aren’t really happy with it anymore. Too much just happened over the past month…..so we are still in the process of evaluating the best hosting solution for our needs.
Strange cult importet from Brazil, but rapidly sweeping around the globe is “Mobile Clubbing”. Clubs are organzied thorugh the internet, mobile phones and word of mouth. This week a few undercover London clubs are going to be organized and the crowds will maybe head there again.
However…why would someone visit a mobile club? I guess it’s mostly curiosity and the feeling of having some kind of power. Especially the more artsy crowd.
Well let’s hope that by dancing in public mobile clubbers will have fun. I certainly will digg in their mobile guestlist and see if I can jump on board one day
Pretty cool gadget, but well under public radar: The MIFI wireless network to go. Instead of using a surfstick or UMTS card this is the coolest gadget for 2009. Really like it a lot. Wonder why nobody really write about it.
It’s portable and allows up to 5 devices to connect. Perfect for meeting or any kind of group travel.
Since normal web hosting companies are beating each other up with additional services, the mobile wap hosting business is completely different. Most companies offer complete website builders and wap hosting solutions for free. Some even use tickets and a ticketing service to provide full customer support online.
There are several good companies out there but it’s sometimes tough to distinguish. Here a few ideas of where to host a mobile website:
1. Host locally I think this is one of the most important things to do. Host your website in the target country
2. Host with larger companies or reliable companies that are ideally affiliated with the carriers. You certainly don’t want to be blocked by a carrier if you run a serious business on the mobile web.
3. Multiple Device Hosting Make sure hosting supports multiple devices. There are several settings that could make mobile devices cause errors or problems. Hosting a mobile website should be open to as many mobile devices as possible. Especially for mobile analytics data is something you might also don’t want to share with third parties
4. No traffic limit The mobile ESPN site receives more traffic than the regular ESPN site. Make sure that you have enough resources to support seasonal traffic
Pretty cool Iphone App that calculates your savings on Annual Light Bulb costs. Usually not a big thing in the US, but in Europe and especially Germany, where electricity is very expensive, the 99 Cents for the app could save 100s of dollars in yearly light bulb costs.
I’ve written two month ago about the flowers application for the Iphone. Now another great Iphone app: Q’s Slider Puzzle: iLove Nature
It’s the traditional slider puzzle, but with nature images as pics. It’s build with 18 different wildlife photos and is build out with
Different skill levels. But better than the old-school toy, this Iphone App keeps track of time and moves. Perfect for everybody
Playing during class, in the subway or bus.
