I just found out that the International Mobile Congress is happening soon in Denmark. On the 10th and 11th of June, Copenhagen will host the event in the Hotel Scandic.
Anyways…the mobile event will be about current mobile trends and opportunities in the mobile space. It’ll be interesting, who joins this event (probably much smaller than the Barcelona event) and I am thinking about making the trip over there. Especially since they focus on Mobile 2.0 this year.

Not sure if you’ve noticed, but the “mobilization” of our communication is really taking a hit on our writing styles. Not only do I get 10 letter text messages, but also have to read 140 character Twitter or Facebook messages all day.
This does not only have an effect on myself, but also my surroundings. LOL and Smiley’s are more commonly used than accurate punctuation.
Not sure if this is a good trend, but I’d love to have a style writer software. And not only for my laptop, but also for mobile phones or and any device, which is used for mobile communication.
So far I’ve noticed that most stylewriter software products are build for Word or for laptops in general e.g Stylewriter.org runs a software called Stylewriter.
These software products act like professional editors and could be really helpful. So if you are good with mobile apps, go ahead and educate the world

Even that I never took the time to visit Brazil, I am amazed how many new mobile cell phones launch in this market. Especially quite interesting ones, such as the Motorola Zeppelin.

However rumors in the industry have been indicating, that the Zeppelin might pop up in the North American market. What’s pretty cool abuot the Zeppelin i sht e 3.1 HVGA display, Wi-Fi, HDMI out, GPS and headphone jack.
Will be interesting to see if Motorola makes a strong comeback after Apple and Google are agressively taking market share away from the former star.

Finally my last connection with Time Warner is done. After years of dependency to magazines, internet, email and TV, I’ve made the jump to the Dish Network.
The guys over at USDish.com just hooked me up and I finally can watch my beloved Food network, ESPN and my local channels again.
Time Warner just got on my nerves, after I received hundreds of telephone offers on my VOIP phone. On top my price raised to $150/month (from $99 in the beginning), which I thought was ridiculous.
Well…now it’s done. No more mortgage and credit card phone calls at 7pm! I feel good

Sorry for not posting lately, but besides a molar tooth I totally screwed up my dental insurance by not signing a paper. Now I have to wait for the next enrollment, which is 6 weeks down the road. Should be some decent pain unless I go to a dentist abroad or better say… a dentist in Europe, who can fix my teeth without emptying my wallet.
Anyways….I was wondering it there is a dental app and yes…how weird..there is one:
The dental radiology (Dental-Rx) app has dental care with pictures to explain better, talking about cavitys and caries too, and show types of disease, gums and teeth. It also contain a dental glossary (small dictionary), where you can select words alphabetically choosing the initial letter touching buttons to do a quick and effective search of words.

Weird world

I just checked the hotels.com app, but it did not work for my trip to the UK. So, I also downloaded the Marriott Mobile App, which I also will use to book a hotel in Atlantic City for next Saturday.
The app is build quite simple and I am more stunned that a relatively simple app helps you to do all the stuff while riding the bus home. Here the features:
- Find and Book a Hotel
- View or Cancel Reservations
- My Marriott Rewards Account
- City Guides
- Take Mobile Survey
and the greatest…
- The app works for all hotels worldwide.
So…a little thought of the other hotel finder apps would have prevented me from using this one. Well….now I am staying in hopefully one of the better Brighton hotels: The Marriott Brighton!

Motorola has joined the Android bandwagon, adding an impressive new line of cell phones called Cliq and Droid. Despite the cute names, these cell phones are sure to be a forward step in upgrading your telecommunications technology.
Introducing The Motorola Cliq
The slender Motorola Cliq is only 0.64 inches thick, and, like a social clique, is all about class, design, and its own unique style.
This is an android phone for the wired socialite who habitually uses Twitter and Facebook as a way of life. Like, say, the Flock browser, this is an aggregate of all your Web 2.0 networking accounts organized in an intuitive and easily accessible way.
Adding to the touch of techno-sophistication is a QWERTY keyboard that slides out of the phone, making it easy to tap a quick message and post it online.
An interface called MOTORBLUR organizes all your information, excluding your phone calls. You can flit from a social network website to a news site in seconds and keep in touch with forum discussions and breaking news wherever you are.
And if you do need to snap a quick picture, your Motorola Cliq has a handy 5 MP non-flash camera.
Security features are built in. You can locate a lost phone with GPS. And you can remotely clear personal information.
…And The Motorola Droid
Smartphones, like computer microprocessors, appear to get smarter every generation.
The slender Motorola Droid, only 0.54 inches thick, is no exception to this evolutionary rule. Gadget critics even argue its merits over the Samsung Moment from Sprint.
What makes this sturdily-built but compact smartphone smarter?
Besides, being a serious alternative to the iPhone, three things, actually.
One, the sixteen by nine 3.7 inch LCD touchscreen with an astonishing four hundred thousand pixels. As you probably instantly recognize, this, for a cell phone, is huge.
Two, the phone runs an operating system called Android 2.0.
And three, it runs on a Verizon 3G network.
The rectangular phone has a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. This keyboard slides out like a drawer from a cabinet and does not spring out like many cell phone keyboards. The keyboard is a plate with a microphone on its edge.
It’s as tempting to review the upgraded operating system as the phone itself.
The Motorola Droid is packed with more features than can be neatly listed in a review. Here’s a quick overview: It has excellent voice quality; a 5 MP camera with flash functionality; a7 20 by 480 H264 DVD quality camcorder; a Google Maps Navigator, offering voice prompted turn directions; a Google bar for internet and local drive searches; a phone book; an email book; a social network directory; and a Verizon 3G EV-DO network. And if that’s not enough, you’ll also enjoy its long battery life.
Not sure if Motorola cell phones will have a comeback in 2010, but their phones are not too bad. Maybe the cooperation with Google will bring them forward. However, Goolge’s Nexus One might be another Motorola killer.

I was looking into the hotels apps today since I am planning to make a 2 week trip to the Philippines in 2010..
One of the problem I have is that I don’t want to carry the Lonely planet with me. The Lonely planet, which many call the bible of all travel guides, became a little bit of a two-sided sword the last years. On the one side you find incredible detailed information, but b/c everybody is using it, you often end up in the same place like everybody else. Also some hotel/hostel owner are smart and ask travelers to rate them. Obviously only friendly guests, who don’t complaint or travelers, who admited that they had a lot of fun at the place.
Anyways…there are a few apps. Tripadvisor got one, but that’s not really something you want to take on a trip. Hotels.com is certainly not bad, but for Manila not possible. Priceline, Hilton apps and Omnihotels are other apps out there. Not really valuable.
So on the travel side, I found a really interesting one called Cebu city travel guide 4.1 app. It’s running offline and it includes the Philippines Visayas, Central Visayas, Cebu.
Fetures include Getting there/around, transport, sightseeing, entertainment, shopping, eat, drink, Places to stay, Nearby places, city travel guides with Wiki travel info. Release date is also August 2009, so I bet it’s quite a good and updated app (Version 4.1). The app runs on the Ihpone or Iphone touch and costs 99 Cents.
Overall I think a pretty good deal and I’ll test it out. Which they’d offer that for my Motorola phone, but my Ipod touch will make it as well.
