Mobile Local Search

Local mobile advertising is certainly one of the hottest technology trends that companies are working on. So is probably Mobile Local Search.

Yulop, an Indian based startup, offers mobile phone users in India in a few larger cities a way to find local businesses.

Mashable got a little bit more about the technology, that they use:

“Rather than rely on GPS data, which some companies in regions elsewhere are, it functions through cellular network triangulation. Which most definitely diminishes search accuracy, yet for the time being may be deemed good enough for a broad base of mobile users in the country”

Certainly a very interesting idea. Wished I could test the system.

Although I like Yulop, there’s a lot more that needs to be done on this front. I’ve written a post about what can be done to improve local search on my blog
