Mobile Web Business Worth $ 2.3 Billion

You probably haven’t expected that, but DeNA, a mobile web buiness is worth $ 2.3 billion. I honeslty never heard of DeNA before, but the company owns massive mobile web traffic such as Jia Jia Cheng, a free social network for mobile phone users.
Besides DeNa owns Mobage-town, a site for free online games, a bunch of Ecommerce related service on the web an mobile (Pocket bidders, Shopping Mall, Auctions) and extended their services to China..

Pretty impressive and probably one of the most advanced billion dollar companies when it comes to mobile services.

Mobile Social Networking Larger Than Online In Japan

Mixi.jp is Japan’s largest social network and Techcrunch has a great post about it. Most intrestingly Mix.jp has more mobile users than web user (about 60% mobile, 40% online). This comes to me as a big
surprise, even that I knew that Mobile usage in Japan is common.

We’ll see if this trend coming from Asia will prevail in Europe and the US.

Mobile Social Network Gets Massive Funding

Very interesting to see how Mobile Social Networks get funded over the past months. Since Comscore announced that a lot of mobile traffic comes from social networks, it is interesting to see how investors are hyped about it.

“Mobile social networking firm Zannel announced the completion of a $10 million Series B financing round led by Alloy Ventures alongside existing Series A investors U.S. Venture Partners and Palomar Ventures. The company has so far raised a combined total of $16 million”

Personally I am still sceptical about mobile social networks. It’s an interesting aspect, especially when location is added to the phone. However a mobile device will hopefully be used for much more than that.
