Google Upgrades Mobile Search

Google just announced that they upgrade their mobile search landing page, improved their Igoogle page and a added a new search-plugin.

I am not really surprised by that. The mobile web and especially the mobile search work completely different and with the growth of the mobile web, Google must be afraid of loosing market share.

They will keep on pushing in the mobile space as hard as they can.

Mobile Local Search

Local mobile advertising is certainly one of the hottest technology trends that companies are working on. So is probably Mobile Local Search.

Yulop, an Indian based startup, offers mobile phone users in India in a few larger cities a way to find local businesses.

Mashable got a little bit more about the technology, that they use:

“Rather than rely on GPS data, which some companies in regions elsewhere are, it functions through cellular network triangulation. Which most definitely diminishes search accuracy, yet for the time being may be deemed good enough for a broad base of mobile users in the country”

Certainly a very interesting idea. Wished I could test the system.
